How Will Brexit Affect Our Sales in the UK?
The UK has left the EU and the transition period ends on the 31st December 2020. Understandably, there is some concern as to how this may impact tariffs for things such as the import and export of goods in the UK.
Starting on the 1st January 2021, tariffs for imports will change and the EU’s Common External Tariff will be replaced by the UK Global Tariff system. But what does this mean for us at Door Control Gear?
The UK Global Tariff system reduces the tariffs for many items, and we are really pleased to say that customers are unlikely to be affected by increases brought about by tariff changes. The UK Global Tariff will, in most instances, offset import tariffs applied to goods we sell where parts or all of the product is imported from countries within the EU.
Additionally, the products we sell to our customers in the UK will not be affected by import duties relating to goods classified as restricted goods and are not subject to license or certification requirements. We have a wide variety of products available, including door closers, keyless digital door locks, door dampers and door latches and even foot operated door holders.
How Will Brexit Affect Our Sales to Countries Other Than the UK?
Starting on the 1st January 2021, our sales to EU countries will also have to comply with INCOTERMS.
These changes to the export processes will not affect the services that we are able to offer. We will continue to provide deliveries to other countries with duty paid and 'delivery at place options' (INCOTERMS).
UK based customers wishing to have orders delivered to destinations in the EU can also still enjoy duty paid and 'delivery at place' options.
Here, at Door Control Gear, we have many years of experience (over 50 between the two principals) of both importing and exporting goods. We can assure every customer that the changes starting in January 2021, will not close off any services Door Control Gear have provided in the past. The only changes will be to the documentation and processes.
